N1-Nutrition uses the following third-party AI services to provide food analysis, nutrition coaching, and meal planning features:

  • Google Gemini (Google LLC) — Used for food label OCR, nutrition coaching, and meal plan generation.
  • OpenAI (OpenAI, Inc.) — Used for food photo analysis, pantry scanning, nutrition coaching, and meal plan generation.

Data Sent to AI Services

When you use AI-powered features, the following categories of data may be transmitted to these services for processing:

  • Food photos you scan (for food identification and nutritional analysis).
  • Nutritional goals and dietary preferences (calorie targets, macro splits, cuisine preferences).
  • Medical conditions (as stated in your profile — used only to personalize AI nutrition advice and ensure safe recommendations).
  • Food allergies (as stated in your profile — used only to personalize AI meal plans and avoid unsafe suggestions).
  • Body metrics (weight, height, age, gender) for personalized nutrition calculations.
  • Food diary data (recent meal logs, for context-aware coaching advice).
  • Coaching conversation messages (your text input to the AI coach, for contextual responses).

How AI Services Use Your Data

  • Your data is processed solely to provide personalized nutrition insights and generate responses to your queries.
  • Your data is not used to train AI models by these third-party providers.
  • Data is transmitted securely via TLS encryption and is not stored persistently by the AI providers beyond the processing session.
  • Google and OpenAI are bound by contractual and technical obligations that provide privacy and security protections equivalent to or greater than those maintained by N1-Nutrition.

Your Choice: Opt-Out of AI Data Sharing

You can decline AI data sharing at any time. When you first access an AI-powered feature, a consent prompt is shown with Accept and Decline options. Your choice is recorded and enforced on both your device and our servers.

If you decline, AI-powered features (food photo scanning, AI meal planning, and AI coaching) will be unavailable, but all other app functionality — including manual food logging, barcode scanning via our own database, progress tracking, and social features — remains fully available. You can change your decision at any time by reopening the consent prompt from any AI feature or from Settings → Privacy.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We will retain and use your data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:
